The Work We Take On
Most of the housing stock in this service area went up between 1938 and 1985, with the median build year sitting around 1960. That means a lot of the doors and openers we get called on are original or close to it - old torsion springs sized for panels that have since been swapped, tracks bent from decades of use, rollers that were never sealed against the cold. We work on residential garage doors and openers: broken springs, cables off the drum, bent or misaligned tracks, worn rollers and hinges, opener motor failures, and panel damage from a bad backing job or a storm-loosened section.
This is a COLD-severe climate zone, and freeze-thaw cycling is hard on steel hardware and on the weatherstripping that keeps a garage above freezing - a lot of our calls in winter are springs that finally gave out after years of contracting and expanding. If your door is original to a 1960s build, we can usually tell you on the phone whether the fix is worth it or whether the age of the hardware means replacement makes more sense. We take calls across the neighborhoods and nearby communities listed on our site, from South Boston out through Dorchester, Charlestown, and the surrounding towns within about a 14-mile radius.
What We Do Not Take On
We don't do new construction installs where the opening itself needs framing work - that's a carpentry job before it's a garage door job, and we'll say so rather than take the call. We don't handle commercial rolling steel doors or loading-dock equipment; our trucks and parts are set up for residential sectional doors and standard openers.
We also won't quote a repair over the phone sight unseen if the door is original 1960s-era hardware with a bent track and a warped panel - sometimes what looks like a spring call turns into a full replacement once someone's actually looking at the opening, and we're not going to promise a $200 fix that turns into a bigger job once we're there. If a job needs a licensed electrician for panel work upstream of the opener, we'll tell you that too instead of working around it.
