The Work We Take On
We work on garage doors and openers in houses and multi-family buildings across Boston, from South Boston and Charlestown out to East Boston, Dorchester, and the Fenway - Kenmore area, plus the nearer towns like Chelsea, Everett, Somerville, and Cambridge. A lot of what we see traces back to the housing boom here, mostly built between 1938 and 1985 with a median around 1960. That means a mix of original torsion setups, older extension-spring doors, and openers that have been swapped out once or twice since the house was built.
We take on broken springs, cables off the drum, bent or dented panels, rollers that have jumped the track, and openers that grind, stall, or won't respond at all. We also handle full door replacement when the existing door has run its course, and tune-ups for doors that still work but sound rough, especially heading into the cold months. Boston sits in a severe cold climate band, and that shows up in how hardware ages here: seals crack, metal contracts, and lubricant that was fine in July gets stiff in January.
When you request a quote, tell us the age of the door if you know it, whether it's one piece or sectional, and what it's doing wrong. A phone description gets you a range. A look at the door gets you a number.
What We Do Not Take On
We don't price a job sight unseen and call it final. Spring size, drum type, track alignment, and the condition of the jamb all change the cost, and none of that is visible from a phone call. If a door has been driven into, has a bowed track, or the opener has been rewired by someone other than a licensed electrician, we need to see it before we quote anything.
We also don't do commercial dock doors or rolling steel doors - our work is residential, sized to the housing stock in this area. And we're upfront that some doors aren't worth fixing: if the panels are rusted through or the door predates parts that are still made, replacement is usually cheaper over time than chasing repairs on it. We'll tell you that instead of billing you for the third visit.
How to Reach Us
Call 18576755729 to talk through what's going on with your door, or send details through our contact page and we'll get back to you. We're based at 1 1st Ave, Boston, MA 02129, and we quote jobs across the neighborhoods and towns listed above - Quincy, Revere, Brookline, Malden, Medford, Milton, and out as far as Lexington and Salem. The more specific you can be on the first call - brand of opener if you know it, whether the door still opens by hand, whether you heard a bang before it stopped working - the closer our first number will be to the final bill.
